Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Sumitomo Electric Toyama Co., Ltd.

Sept. 27, 2023

On July 9, I participated in the 50th anniversary ceremony of Sumitomo Electric Toyama Co., Ltd.

Since the launch of production of aluminum wires in 1973, Sumitomo Electric Toyama Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of our company, has been expanding the scope of its business to cover various types of plating wires for electronic materials, porous metal (Celmet), and other products.

On the day of the event, it stopped raining, although continuing rain had been forecast. Attended by Governor Hachiro Nitta of Toyama Prefecture and about 60 people associated with our company, a Shinto ritual was celebrated by the chief priest of Hojozu Hachimangu Shrine.

After the ceremony, each of the two types of red and white kousa dogwood trees, which represent early summer, were planted to commemorate the anniversary. Kousa dogwood please viewers with their flowers, fruits, and red autumn leaves, even though the seasons of Toyama Prefecture change considerably. In addition, they are resistant to diseases and pests. The trees represent our hope that the company will thrive well while adapting to changes in the surrounding environment.
