The HFBR-7934Z four-channel parallel optical transceiver module complies with RoHS 6 and operates at 3.125 Gbit/s per channel for an aggregate bandwidth of 12.5 Gbit/s and a link distance up to 350 m. This distance and high-bandwidth capacity provide the flexibility to create larger systems in central offices or large enterprises, helping meet the demand for terabit data transfer. It is compliant with the POP4 multisource agreement, uses an MTP/MPO ribbon fibre connector interface, and features electrical connection via the pluggable 10×10 Meg-Array connector system.Avago Technologies, www.avagotech.com

The P1RX-LX4TL receiver optical subassembly (ROSA) with integrated transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and limiter measures 10.8×15.6×6.8 mm for applications where space is limited, such as X2 form-factor LX4 transceiver modules. It can receive four channels from one singlemode or multimode fibre, with each channel capable of receiving between 155 Mbit/s and 3.125 Gbit/s per channel (run length of 80 bits). The ROSA is designed to meet the LX4 standard, including transmission greater than 300 m over multimode fibre and greater than 10 km over singlemode fibre (IEEE 802.3ae 10G standard), and Telcordia GR468 criteria.

The GPON Class B+ family of optical transceivers can recover every bit from the first bit of the incoming optical signal running in burst mode, offering 28-dB loss budget and 20-dB dynamic range without power leveling scheme. The transceivers are also compatible to both reset and reset-less GPON system design with Digital Diagnostic Monitoring interface on both ends. The product line is based on small-form-factor (SFF) and small-form-factor pluggable (SFP) multisource agreements. The RoHS-compliant devices serve both diplexer and triplexer version transceivers supporting Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) functionality and work in the industrial temperature range.

The latest version of the waveguide optics design suite, OptiBPM 8, adds new mode solvers for circular fibres, powerful optimisation engines, and increased simulation performance. Advanced LP and vector mode solvers for circular fibres find modes using a transfer matrix method in cylindrical coordinates. The optimisation feature accommodates user-defined functions of merit and employs one of three powerful optimisation strategies: the Golden Search Method, Nelder-Mead Simplex Method, or the Modified Powell Method (a direction set method).

Version 7.0 of the Passive Component Design Suite now incorporates advanced nonuniform mesh generation and improved speed and usability. By reducing the number of grid points, FullWAVE, an FDTD-based simulator, can perform more quickly when using a nonuniform mesh compared to a simulation with a uniform mesh. New algorithms for FemSIM and DiffractMOD allow similar accuracy to be obtained at less computational expense compared to previous versions. All products, including GratingMOD, are now tightly integrated with MOST, a scanning and optimisation tool.

New optical transport network (OTN) test capabilities for the IQS/FTB-8120 and IQS/FTB-8130 Transport Blazer test modules run on the IQS-500 Intelligent Test System for manufacturing and R&D test applications. The software can also be used with the FTB-200 Compact Platform and the advanced FTB-400 Universal Test System to ensure coverage of test and measurement applications ranging from R&D verification to field turn-up and troubleshooting. The test software includes forward error correction generation and analysis, as well as support for all OTN layer alarms and errors. This OTN test tool is designed to support both OTU1 (2.7 Gbit/s) and OTU2 (10.7 Gbit/s) test rates.

The BOSA optical subassembly (OSA) includes a Macro Editor Tool to allow the user to automate measurements and applications for real-time data acquisition. Proprietary all-optical technology avoids electrical conversion and filtering. Using the BOSA as controller, the user may set up experiments with other external devices that are controlled by the BOSA through its GPIB interface. With resolution of 0.08 pm (10 MHz) and extended dynamic range of 80 dB, the BOSA-C (which covers the C-band) can measure large spans up to the complete band.Aragón Photonics Labs S.L., www.aragonphotonics.com

A complete family of optical power meters is available for precision optical power measurements, peak detection, and laser tweaking. Sets include display and sensor units covering an overall optical power range of 5 nW to 30 W and a wavelength range of 250 nm to 10.6 µm. The family comprises sets with standard semiconductor and thermal sensors as well as those with thin profile sensors or integrating sphere sensors. Display options include a multifunctional digital handheld console or a large, mirrored, and easy-to-read analog display. All power meters automatically recognize the connected sensor and download the calibration data stored in the sensor head.

Coupled with the LEMO 3K.93C connection system, the MEERKAT converter allows television transmission over longer distances and higher levels of definition over fibre-optic cable. The lightweight and portable system is specially adapted to prefibred venues or to studios with fibre-optic installations and can be mounted directly on the tripod at the camera side. The hybrid connector has a compact design with two singlemode fibre contacts, two power contacts, and two signal contacts for HD camera interconnection systems. The connector system is fully AINSI/SMPTE (US), ARIB (Japan), and EBU (Europe) compliant.
