VICTOR, NEW YORK April 16, 2019 – Bristol Instruments, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of the model 157LS Optical Thickness Gauge to its line of interferometer-based precision instruments. This latest model has the ability to measure material thickness as large as 40 mm, while maintaining industry leading accuracy of ± 0.1 μm and repeatability of ± 0.02 μm.

The 157LS system uses the unique properties of light to measure material thickness without damage or deformation. Up to 31 individual layers, as well as total thickness, can be measured simultaneously.

“The new model 157LS extends our precise thickness measurement capability to applications such as multi-element lens assemblies and thicker optical components,” said Don Jarvie, Business Development Manager for Bristol’s Optical Metrology products. “Now, more customers will be able to take advantage of the accuracy, repeatability, and reliability guaranteed by Bristol Instruments.”

About Bristol Instruments

Since its founding in 2005, Bristol Instruments has solely focused on designing, manufacturing, and marketing precision instruments using its expertise in optical interferometry. Bristol’s flagship products accurately characterize the wavelength and spectral properties of lasers and are used by scientists and engineers at universities and government and industrial laboratories. They are also used for the development and production testing of laser transmitters used in optical fiber communications. In addition, Bristol Instruments provides interferometer-based products to reliably measure critical physical dimensions of materials such as specialty plastic films, medical tubing, and ophthalmic products.
